Oil Painting Level 1 Short Course

On the Oil Painting Level 1 Short Course, students build their confidence and painting skills in the medium of oil paint. The course explores a range of materials, processes and techniques including mixing colour, understanding colour harmonies, using different surfaces, glazing and various paint application methods. During the course, students work from still life and complete various self-directed projects to develop their skills. Several topics are covered including colour theory, glazing and scumbling, mixing mediums, and imprimatura. By the end of the course, students will have a body of work and a greater awareness of the diverse concepts and production of the generic process of oil painting.
