On the Patternmaking Level 1 Short Course students learn the art of patternmaking.
During the course, students practice how to use specialist equipment, pattern terminology and how to draw with accuracy and confidence the correct information that should be on finished patterns.
Tutor-led demonstrations provide the starting point for students to practice and develop their skills and aesthetic values. Students then have the opportunity to draw on the technical skills they have learnt to practice and improve their ability and realise their three- dimensional designs.
Students work on bodice dart manipulations, simple sleeves and skirts and gain an understanding of the basic rules of creating garment components. The course also covers how to add fullness through gathers and pleats.
