During the course, students visit a fashion/art exhibition and look through archives of fashion images. Students learn how to use a range of primary sources and digital tools to collect information surrounding trends and popular culture. The course includes visits to some of London’s most iconic stores to analyse visual merchandising, the power of the consumer and its impact on building brands. Students also have the opportunity to explore the city’s most interesting fashion hotspots, including Soho and East London, to observe real and current trends in the most fashionable and influential areas of London. The course covers several topics including key historical and modern-day trends, street trends and their influence, accessories, footwear and beauty trends, blogs and fashion calendar influences. Students also gain an insight into how the high street interprets and re-imagines trends.
