AI in Education: Teaching & Learning in the Age of Artificial Intelligence

Introduction:

Generative AI is reshaping the way we work and learn, increasing the complexity of work in a way that creates new competency demands. As students integrate AI into their learning, educators must ensure it supports critical thinking rather than fostering dependency.

This course equips BI faculty with the knowledge and skills to navigate AI in education—both as a teaching tool and as a subject of AI literacy. Participants have explored AI’s role in learning, its business relevance, and practical applications for integrating AI into their teaching.

Scope:

20 hours, including practical use of AI and a written reflection note.

• AI Fundamentals: Understanding the basic principles of generative AI, machine learning, and large language models with specific applications to higher education contexts.

• Critical AI Analysis: Evaluating the benefits and limitations of AI tools for course design and delivery, with consideration of ethical implications, pedagogical applications, and institutional guidelines.

• Curriculum Integration: Developing discipline-specific AI literacy components tailored to student needs and learning objectives within their area of expertise.

• AI-Enhanced Teaching: Utilizing AI-driven tools to support and improve the teaching process, learning design and to streamline administrative tasks.

• Ethical Implementation: Navigating academic integrity considerations, data privacy concerns, and responsible AI implementation within BI's policy framework.

• Pedagogical Transformation: Analyzing how AI transforms both student learning experiences and instructor roles, with strategies for continuous improvement in teaching practice.
