Pattern Cutting for Made to Measure Short Course

Ozge Kanli
The Pattern Cutting for Made to Measure Short Course offers students the opportunity to study the core skills involved in pattern cutting for womenswear, using their own body measurements.
During the course, students study the basics of custom-fit block making to create a personalised bodice (and one-piece sleeve block - time permitting). Students then work on making their pattern into a toile and learn how to fit the toile to the body, adapting the pattern accordingly.
The course covers a number of topics including cutting room terminology, measuring and compiling size charts, fitting procedures, and working-pattern drafting.
By the end of the course, students should have a personalised bodice and sleeve block, ready to draft into patterns that will have a perfect fit.
