Curating Contemporary Art Short Course

The Curating Contemporary Art Short Course is a 5-day long course that provides an understanding of standards of practice in curating. Students learn about structures and institutions of the art world and acquire the tools to write an exhibition proposal, organise a show or apply for funding. The learning begins with an overview on the history of curating and 21st century curatorial developments. Followed by a look at main trends, institutions and concerns of contemporary curatorial practices. This is supported by virtual visits to a range of exhibitions and institutions in London alongside online discussions with industry professionals. The course also provides students with important practical information about funding, promotion, installation and other professional aspects of curating. Students have the opportunity to put their learning to practice as they devise their own exhibition themes and proposals.
