Book Illustration Short Course

On this course students are encouraged to hone their drawing skills - helping them to develop their own visual language. Students gain an understanding of how they could develop their abilities as an illustrator and what is required in order to show a portfolio to a publisher.
Our tutors are practising illustrators who provide inspiration and insight into the current childrens book market. Students explore materials, gain confidence in character development, layout and composition and understand the relationship between illustration and text.
Students also explore digital processes bringing a new way of working to their practice. The course delivers one-on-one tuition, project briefs, guest tutorials as well as group feedback.
Past students have featured among the prize winners of the Macmillan Book Prize and the V&A Inspired By Competition.
