Photography Professional Practice And Academic Portfolio Short Course

The Photography Professional Practice and Portfolio Course is an intensive programme of study run over 20 weeks (a combination of class time and independent study). During this time students enhance their knowledge of photography through the understanding of professional processes and skills, and the building of an original and personally tailored photography portfolio. Through a combination of creative exercises, lectures, workshops, demonstrations, visits and individual tuition students cover a wide range of topics to create a portfolio that ensures they are in a strong position to apply for BA or MA courses. Students also undertake self-initiated projects where they are supported throughout by workshops, lectures, tutorials, and group feedback sessions. Subjects covered on the course include: Alternative processes Analogue darkroom skills Digital workflow History of photography; looking critically at photographs, exhibitions and Roland Barthes Camera Lucida Medium and large format cameras; Printing, scanning and colour management SLR Studio skills
