The Visual Identity Online Short Course explores the core ideas surrounding visual identity.
Students develop an understanding of the principles of visual identity and learn how visual elements like form, colour and imagery tell a brand’s unique story.
During the course, students complete a series of practical assignments designed to help them develop their visual vocabulary in context.
The course covers several topics including historical context, visual research and mood boards, the design stages, colour, typography, visual language and brand expression.
By the end of the course, students should have:
• Learnt to understand and utilise the elements that make up a visual identity
• An understanding of the differences between brand, identity and logo design
• The ability to recognise successful brand identity applications
• Grasped a variety of possible visual identity approaches
• Designed and developed a visual identity across a range of platforms and applications
