Portrait Photography Short Course

This practical course has been designed to help students develop a personal style and confidence with technique. Students photograph each other, and models or friends with studio flash, portable flash and daylight. Through lectures students look at the work of well known photographers, discussing composition and style of lighting. The course focuses on digital photography, but students also have the opportunity to work with film and use a darkroom for film processing, machines for resin coated multigrade printing, and a wetbench for silver gelatin paper printing. Topics covered: Using reflectors Digital cameras Camera formats including the use of 6x6 and 6x7 cameras in the studio 'Fill in' flash - balancing with daylight Working with portable flash
