Children's Book Illustration Short Course

The Children's Book Illustration Short Course explores a variety of techniques used to create images for picture books. Students are introduced to methods of communicating narratives through image making alone. Through a series of exercises students are taught the roles that storyboarding, roughs, layouts, text placement and final artwork play in the creation of illustrated picture books. By the end of the course students have a better understanding of: How clay models can support better character continuity Pop-up book techniques including the role of illustrator Applying colour media Applying black and white media Story generation How to harness imagination and experimentation
