Art Criticism Short Course

On the Art Criticism Short Course students are introduced to various ways of approaching and looking at art. During the course, students learn how to put their appreciation into words and how to market and promote their written work for publication. The course covers a number of topics including critical approaches, writing styles and publishing opportunities. Students also explore the relationships between art, galleries and the press. A major outcome of the course is a 700-word review of an art exhibition, which each student will be asked to write. By the end of the course students will have: • The tools to think and write critically about contemporary art • Developed skills in observation and research • Studied aspects of writing from style and form to dissemination
