Photography as Performance Short Course

On the Photography as Performance Short Course, students create a new body of photographic work by working with concepts and aesthetics of architecture, design and the human body. Using a multidisciplinary approach to photography and its affinities with spatial design and architecture, geometry, angles, perspective and architecture are explored via photography. Students are encouraged to produce innovative photographic narratives. Using ephemeral materials students make their own artistic installations and interventions in space. Through talks, lectures, practical workshops, external visits and independent research, students develop a creative and artistic approach to photography and an improved knowledge of how to interact with space and architecture through photography and performance. Topics covered: • Understanding of multidisciplinary artistic approaches to photography • Innovating photographic practice • Improving photographic skills • Integrating performance and architecture with photography • Creating a new photographic portfolio By the end of the course, students should have: • developed new skills • experienced life on campus • had the chance to network and share ideas with students from across the globe • received feedback and critique on assignments
