Printing with Botanicals Short Course

This is an experimental printmaking course using plant matter for use in various art practices including fine art, illustration and textile design. Students explore different techniques using plant and foliage to create images and textures, also looking at samples of print, illustration and design for inspiration. Topics covered: • Dyeing paper using plant / vegetable based dyes • Using mono printing and sun printing techniques on a variety of papers to create finished artwork, or textures to use as background in design or collage • Making transparent artwork for further methods of printing e.g. screen print • Investigating how results can be used in subsequent design and image making • Preserving plant matter for further use with printing techniques • An informal course with room for experiment and a chance to make an assortment of printed artwork to take away
