Costume Design For Performance Short Course

The Costume Design for Performance Short Course introduces students to the process of costume design for performance. The emphasis is on analysing character and developing a portfolio of costume renderings to support the dynamics of a playwright's characters and their situation. Students gain an overview of the process of creative visualisation. They go on to establish a concept, which anticipates a performance and communicates ideas effectively to an audience. Students are encouraged to develop, diversify and extend their current creative practices towards costume design, resulting in a portfolio of project work reflecting the costume designer's creative process for performance. By the end of the course, students should have: • Gained a practical understanding of the industry’s design requirements. • Strengthened their portfolio in design for performance. • Developed new skills. • Experienced life on campus. • Had the chance to network and share ideas with students from across the globe. • Received feedback and critique on assignments.
