The Digital Print and Embroidery Design Online Short Course is an intensive course that introduces students to designing digital prints, embroideries, and embellishments for fabrics. Students create their own design work and are encouraged to combine traditional and digital methods.
During the course students explore sketching and design development, converting this to digital artwork, and finally exporting digital files which can be used by embroidery and print machines.
By the end of the course students have:
• Sourced and conducted relevant visual research for their design process
• Developed confidence in hands-on print and embroidery design
• A better understanding of how to use Adobe design software
• Used a range of painting and drawing techniques to create prints
• An understanding of how to develop artwork from an initial idea to a finished concept
• Learnt how to communicate designs to a manufacturer to get them made
• Produced a body of work that will contribute to a portfolio that can be used for the industry or to enter into further study
