Arts Management Short Course

The Arts Management Short Course provides students with the fundamental skills to build a career in the arts, through an overview of the various professions that make up the art world, and the processes involved with setting up an arts organisation, with an emphasis on the not-for-profit-sector and collaborative working. Through presentations, exercises, case studies and feedback, students consider and discuss different types of arts organisation models. They also learn about funding stream possibilities and gain an understanding of what is involved with planning, organising and delivering a programme of arts events, exhibitions and workshops. Topics covered include: * Building a career in the arts in the UK * Setting up a not-for-profit arts organisation * Curating and project management * Memberships and networking * Key partners, building wider strategic partnerships * Working collaboratively and touring models * Press releases * Social media marketing and platforms * Money matters - funding a business * Applying for jobs, gaining experience and finding work
