The Lighting for Residential Interiors Short Course is designed to inspire and teach students how to design with light.
Students on the Lighting for Residential Interiors Short Course gain an insight into the process of designing a lighting scheme, from first considerations to calculating lighting levels, positioning fittings and creating the required atmosphere. By designing a lighting scheme for a specific space, students learn the fundamental principles.
During the course, students learn how to draw up a lighting plan and specify the required fittings. The course covers several key topics including artificial lighting, technologies and controls, lighting effects, materials and regulations.
By the end of the course, students have an understanding of the language and technology of lighting design as well as how natural and artificial lighting may be used within interiors. Students also learn how to work with contractors and lighting designers and take briefs from clients with confidence.
