Introduction to Professional Sewing Skills Short Course
Lynn Lin
The Introduction to Professional Sewing Skills Short Course is designed to help students become familiar with the basics of machine sewing.
During the course, students build their confidence at working with a professional machine and develop a range of related sewing skills. They also build an understanding of the different needles and threads that are suitable for various fabric types.
The course covers a number of topics including standard stitches, seaming curved edges, straight and gathered edges, simple buttonholes, topstitching and trimming work. Students also gain an insight into various seam types including French seams and flat fell seams.
By the end of the course, students should have had the opportunity to network and share ideas with other students and received feedback and critique on their assignments.
