Introduction to Clo3D and 3D Fashion Design Online Short Course

On this online short course, students are introduced to CLO3D, an industry-standard software and explore the fundamentals of 3D design. Students gain a general understanding of the software and its possibilities to conceptualise their ideas. The course provides step-by-step demonstrations that help students to understand the software’s use and potential. During the course, students practise how to navigate around the avatar, drape garments onto the avatar, and adjust patterns for fit and styling. Topics covered: • The workflow from 2D pattern to 3D garments. • Designing in 3D using an avatar. • Virtual fitting. • Garment rendering. By the end of the course, students should be able to: • Have a general understanding of the interface. • Customise the avatar. • Arrange patterns on the avatar. • Understand the sewing tool. • Understand basic pattern editing in 2D and 3D. • Add trims like zips and buttons. • Customise fabric colours and add prints. • Create a final rendered garment with 360 view.
