Data Science for Beginners Short Course

Katherine Dick
The Data Science for Beginners Short Course is designed to help students get started in the exciting field of data science by learning how to prepare, analyse and visualise data using Python.
The course explores what data science is and considers a range of typical data science applications. In the process, students gain an insight into the role of a data scientist and the tools they use.
During the course, students work through a small example project designed to help them understand the general approach and process for organising and executing a typical machine learning task using Python.
The course covers a range of topics including machine learning techniques, acquiring and cleaning data, data visualisation and data science challenges.
By the end of the course, students should have an understanding of the typical tasks and activities of a data scientist. They should also be able to load and manipulate data sets and know how to write Python code to analyse and visualise data using machine learning and other techniques.
