Playwriting For Beginners Short Course

The Playwriting For Beginners offers students the opportunity to kickstart or further their creative writing work. Students are introduced to the art of writing plays in a stimulating atmosphere to create their own series of works. During the course, students use a range of exercises and techniques to unlock their creative writing skills. They will work on generating their own original characters, developing dramatic relationship, writing dynamic dialogue and creating stories that engage an audience. Students also have the opportunity to work with professional actors who will workshop a selection of their written work and give an informal performance of some of the pieces at the end of the week. By the end of the course, students should have explored various writing techniques and exercises to develop their playwriting and generate ideas. They should also have written excerpts of their own play and worked with a professional actor to workshop their writing.
