Graphic Design And Computers Summer School Short Course

The Graphic Design And Computers Summer School Short Course offers a broad grounding in many of the key design software packages used by professional designers and illustrators. The course offers a strong emphasis on creative ideas, processes and principles in addition to the more technical and production-focused aspects of learning. During the course, students are encouraged to develop original ideas on paper, in discussion with their tutors and peers, prior to developing and producing final designs on the computer. The course covers Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, as well as moving image and website development software. Students gain an understanding of several key topics including the rules of typography, grids, gestalt and compositional concepts and idea generation. Students work on a range of projects to develop their skills and take their design work to the next level. The work produced may be added to a portfolio.
