The Fashion Design Online Short Course provides a full overview of the fashion design process, and covers the skills and methodologies needed to create a collection of work.
Students are guided on how to find design inspiration, conduct visual research, and interpret visual references. They learn how to create mood boards that can be presented to clients and are introduced to various design processes such as sketching, planning, and executing final design ideas with creative flair.
Each week students work on a practical, hands-on assignment that is tutor and peer reviewed. By the end of the course, students will have gained new insights into how the fashion industry operates and will have single-handedly developed their own 6-piece capsule collection.
By the end of the course students will have:
Developed effective ways to use primary and secondary research
Presented their initial ideas through mood boards and a sketchbook
Explored the idea of thematic collections
Illustrated design details and surface decoration
Become familiar with the work of the world's best fashion designers
Learned about the importance of branding, trend forecasting and colour predictions and how to incorporate them into designs
Designed and illustrated a capsule collection
Gained an insight into how fashion designs become finished collections for the catwalk
Received personalised feedback on their assignments
