Visual Merchandising for Retail Display and Design Short Course

April Rose Bryant-Jenns

On the Visual Merchandising for Retail Display and Design Short Course students gain an understanding of the ways in which brands engage with their customers through visual communication in spatial environments. During the course, students are introduced to the creative process and fundamental principles of design for windows, retail environments and events by responding to a series of set briefs. The course is designed to stimulate conceptual and practical thinking. Several topics are covered including window design, temporary and permanent retail environments, visual merchandising, instore displays and event design. Students gain practical knowledge and develop industry relevant skills. By the end of the course, students will have an understanding of the steps involved with successful visual communication within retail environments. The skills acquired and visual outcomes produced may contribute to a portfolio and would be useful preparation for further study in design.
