The Introduction to Visual Communication Online Short Course is designed to help students gain experience and understanding of the exciting world of visual communication.
The course brings together many different specialist areas, including illustration, typography and photography. Students learn how visual communication informs the way we see the world, and how it can be used to say something in a way that will be heard.
As well as exploring the creative process, the course also looks at software and production. Students gain an insight into several key areas, including composition and layout, typography, colour and principles of design and visual literacy.
By the end of the course, students will have:
• Acquired basic skills to create designs that are impactful and individual
• Been introduced to the principles of design and visual literacy
• The ability to analyse visual communication and design
• A better understanding of project development from concept through to production
• Been introduced to how production informs design
• Basic knowledge of the practical use of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
