The Complete Stylist Short Course

The Complete Stylist Short Course introduces students to the contemporary fashion media and allows them the time to develop a unique voice as a fashion stylist. They gain insider knowledge and one-to-one industry advice that is focused on their individual work and professional development. Students create from scratch or refine and develop a portfolio of work that represents a unique point of view as a Fashion Stylist. They will meet industry professionals who are all currently working on innovative editorial and commercial work. Students get to style and direct fashion shoots, including a fashion editorial shoot with a professional photographer, an agency model and industry make-up artist. The course includes visits to London exhibitions and fashion hotstops with aguide to street style spotting and a 'trend safari' around London. Course outcomes: • Have learned the practical aspects of working as a fashion stylist • Understand the role of styling within the contemporary fashion industry and the different career paths. • Started to develop a unique voice as a fashion creative • Have created (with tutor guidance) a clear career plan and the essential resources ready to reach out to editors/companies (including CV / cover letter) • Create from scratch, or refine an existing portfolio of creative work ready to show clients and editors • Conducted original primary research in London, and gathered quality secondary research within the LCF library to develop unique creative concepts and proposals • Create a visually dynamic, professional mood board / concept deck • Be able to work on self-directed fashion shoots with confidence
