Students on the Infographics Design Online Short Course learn how to transform data into a visual, compelling story.
During the course, students learn how to understand a dataset, develop different narratives for different audiences, frame a story in visual form and tailor it to their audience to maximise the impact of their design.
Students develop their knowledge and experience of infographic design by completing a series of different project tasks.
The course covers a number of relevant topics including the history and theory behind infographic design, narrative and sequence, wire-framing, charting best practice, information design and hierarchies of information.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Apply information design theory to their designs
• Understand what makes for best practice in infographics
• Generate ideas through professional techniques such as wire-framing
• Incorporate narratives into their infographic designs
