Interior Design Project Management Short Course

The Interior Design Project Management Short Course provides students with an essential overview of the practical aspects involved in successfully managing a professional project. Through a combination of practical exercises and reference to case studies, students work through the design process from interpreting client briefs to producing documentation and managing budgets and deadlines. During the course, students learn how to avoid mistakes by considering the constraints of a project, such as technical impediments, legal requirements or accessibility that will influence the design from the outset. Students also become familiar with industry standards and methods to effectively communicate their vision to other trades. The course covers several topics including an overview of the design process, client briefs, managing expectations, drawings and document packages, communicating with trades and project management. By the end of the course, students will have learnt to think about design project constraints to avoid producing unworkable designs due to technical or regulatory limitations. They will also know how to communicate effectively with tradespersons by using industry standards and documentation packages.
