The Experience Design Short Course offers an introduction to the emerging discipline of experience design. Students learn methods and techniques that can be applied across all sectors, to improve the quality of interaction and depth of engagement with audiences.
This interdisciplinary course combines illustrated lectures, discussions, and short collaborative briefs to explore how experiences can be designed using images, objects, environments, stories and the senses which leave a lasting impression.
During the course, students work collaboratively to conceive immersive experiences that engage and inform, and learn what goes into making them a reality. Students also gain an insight into the theories and models which have shaped our current knowledge of experience design, drawing influence from the art, commercial and heritage sectors.
The course explores the power of story and narrative as tools for design and communication and guides students on how to design the emotional journey of an audience.
By the end of the course, students will have increased their knowledge and professional skills, and have been inspired by the potential to incorporate these into their own work, practice or studies.
