Building A Fashion Collection Short Course

The Building A Fashion Collection Short Course guides students through the various steps to building a collection, from conception and range planning through to design and presentation. During the course, students begin by establishing the purpose of their collection and the market they are aiming at. They then decide on a theme to stimulate a visual interpretation and carry out research. Students make decisions on fabrics, colours and silhouettes. After deciding on the direction of their collection, students work on a storyboard to clarify their intentions and visually lay out the size and diversity of the range. Students then move on to the design process, in which designs are chosen, altered and redrawn. As the designs evolve, a well-balanced collection is achieved. By the end of the course, students will have had the opportunity to network and share ideas with other students and received feedback on assignments.
