Sarah Kopec
The Abstract Painting Short Course explores the fundamental approaches to making abstract art. The course is designed to help students develop their understanding of colour, gesture, scale, form, shape and line.
Through a combination of practical demonstrations and individual practice, students develop their own visual language and improve their understanding of the principles of painting through experimentation.
The course covers a number of topics including contextual analysis, mark-making and gesture, composition, tone, paint application, texture, layering, colour and collage.
By the end of the course, students will have a created a number of paintings which explore different concepts of abstract art in their own style. They will also have further developed their understanding of abstract painting.
