Fashion Patternmaking for 16 to 18 Year Olds Short Course

Annika Bardenheuer

The Fashion Patternmaking for 16 to 18 Year Olds Short Course offers an opportunity for students to learn and practice the art of patternmaking. Tutor-led demonstrations provide a valuable starting point for students to practice and develop their skills and aesthetic values. The course covers the basic rules of cutting various garment components, such as bodice dart manipulation, simple sleeves and skirts. During the course, students will also explore various style lines and consider how to add fullness through gathers and pleats. Students gain an understanding of how to use specialist equipment, pattern terminology and the correct written and drawn information that should be included on patterns. They will then draw on the skills learnt to develop the art of patternmaking to realise their three-dimensional designs. This is a non-accredited UALSC specifically designed as part of our kids and teenagers portfolio.
