Black and White Photography Darkroom Short Course

The Black and White Photography Darkroom Short Course has been designed for students to refresh or enhance their skills by exploring the many possibilities that a B&W darkroom has to offer. The majority of class time is devoted to working in the darkroom and building printing techniques. During the course, students complete weekly assignments and attend lectures on historical and contemporary artwork that explore the technical and aesthetic possibilities of photography. By the end of the course, students have learnt new processes and discovered different ways of creating images by experimenting and making mistakes. Topics covered: Camera operation Principles of exposure B&W film development Producing contact sheets B&W printing using RC & FB papers Creating photograms & solarising prints Finishing techniques - Toning & re-spotting images
