Create a Fashion Portfolio Intermediate Short Course

Anna Kate Fredericks

On the Create a Fashion Portfolio Intermediate Short Course students document their responses through drawing, photography and collage in order to create a rich and exciting research archive. The course leads them from innovative idea development and experimental design through to finished designs, which are presented in an individual and unique portfolio. The course ensures that students’ portfolios represent their personal approach to fashion design. Students are encouraged to respond creatively to their personal research and to develop unique presentation skills. Topics covered: • Search for inspiration in unexpected places, finding and creating references that express a personal point of view. • Visiting galleries and various places of interest to gather an extensive set of images that will reflect the student’s creative universe. • Intensive drawing workshops to discover the student’s own individual drawing style. • Interpreting research, responding to images and documenting experimentation. • Scale, proportion and technique, idea development for garment design, fabric manipulation, prints and embroideries. By the end of the course students have created a unique portfolio of work that represents their individuality and personal style.
