Graphic Design Principles Short Course

The Graphic Design Principles Short Course is designed to help students develop an understanding of fundamental design elements and principles. During the course, students are introduced to the components of a design project including typography, colour, form, grids and structure. Students complete a range of practical exercises to produce their own small portfolio of work by the end of the course. The course covers several topics including design vocabulary, typography, layout and grids, colour and collage using Adobe Photoshop. By the end of the course, students should be able to: • Deconstruct / analyse examples of visual design • Understand what makes a piece of design work • Create their own designs • Use basic functions of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
